Starbucks has released their Digital Network - an exclusive online content network curated by Starbucks. It is available free at their 6800 stores in the U.S.
Starbucks has partnered with Yahoo and other content providers to create six channels: News, Entertainment, Wellness, Business and Careers and My Neighborhood.
The Digital Network contains free, unrestricted access to the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and a mix of other news sites.
The Business and Careers channel is mostly focused on information related to finding a job. LinkedIn is the key content provider for this section.
As one of the leading 3rd workplaces, I was a bit surprised to the see the content so focused on job search. But a lot of people are looking for jobs these days. Also, it is a 1.0 product and I suspect going forward they will provide more for mobile workers.
